Job Summary
Assists with the integration of nursing science, computer science and information science to communicate data, information and knowledge in nursing practice. Works collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, as a clinical systems expert. Assists with the implementation of staff training addressing the use of clinical systems. Participates with clinical systems improvement activities and staff education.

- Possesses knowledge of new trends in clinical practice and information systems and is able to apply this knowledge to all clinical staff.
- Responsible for the coordination between Nursing and Information Services of all aspects of the clinical information systems to assure that existing and future clinical information systems facilitate clinical practice and safe delivery of patient care.
- Responsible for development, scheduling, delivery and evaluation of clinical systems educational programs and services.
- Assists with database management for the Nursing Education Department and e-learning environments.
- Assists with patient care processes and clinician workflow, and leads initiatives to promote effective process design, development and implementation of the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and other technologies.
- Participates in development, monitoring and evaluation of technology and decision support (barcode point of care, rules, order sets, etc.) for continuous improvement.
- Involves clinical staff in the evaluation of new technology design and function.
- Is a resource person for physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other clinicians, as related to technology changes.
- Coordinates with clinical staff, departmental leadership, Quality, Patient Safety, Accreditation Departments and Information Systems staff to clarify needs, prioritize requests, recommend technology design, workflow and execute change and adaptation to the EMR and other technology.
- Works with clinical staff to optimize MR documentation and the use of the EMR as a communication tool.
- Is knowledgeable of current information technology security and confidentiality, accrediting organization standards, federal and state rules and regulations.
- Supports and maintains a culture of safety and quality.
- Communicates appropriately and clearly to physicians, staff, Nurse Executive and administrative team.
- Demonstrates the ability to be flexible, organized and function well under stressful situations.
- Maintains a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments.

Regulatory Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- College courses related to information technology are preferred.
- Current knowledge of medical terminology required.
- One (1) year prior experience in nursing informatics required.
Language Skills:
- Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Additional languages preferred.
- Strong written and verbal skills.
Skills:
- High level computer skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Excellent organizational, analytical writing, and interpersonal skills.
