Job Summary
The Schedular/ Charge Entry Tech plays a crucial role in managing the scheduling, chargeentry for the Surgical Services Department. This position ensures accuracy in both patient scheduling andcharge capture processes, maintains compliance with policies and procedures, and fosters strongrelationships with physicians, vendors, and facility staff. The coordinator also assists with preference cardupdates, and process improvements to enhance efficiency and charge entry accuracy.
Demonstrates Competency in the Following Areas
- Schedule patient appointments for Surgery, Endoscopy, Pain Management, and Pre-admit Testingthrough the CPSI system.
- Adjust and manage surgical schedules in coordination with patients, physicians, and offices.
- Print daily surgery and procedural schedules and distribute to staff and anesthesia teams.
- Notify relevant departments of schedule changes and special equipment needs.
- Provide patients with directions, parking information, and pre-appointment instructions.
- Ensure accurate capture of charges for supplies and implants through the charge capture system.
- Maintain and update surgeon preference cards with permanent changes.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to verify case charges and correct discrepancies.
- Document adverse outcomes and coordinate implant returns and expiration tracking.
- Perform data entry tasks and maintain accurate records in scheduling and charge systems.
- Prepare statistical reports and handle clerical duties such as ordering supplies.
- Assist with performance improvement initiatives by identifying revenue enhancement opportunities.
