Job Summary
Responsible for unit-specific shift operations with the goal of having the shift function at optimum performance. Responsible for the assignment of patient care to ensure appropriate care based on patient needs and staff skill/competence. Supervises nursing staff and patient care during scheduled shifts. Assists with staff scheduling. Maintains performance improvement activities within the department and participates in CQI activities.
Demonstrates Competency in the Following Areas (But not limited to)
- Formulates a teaching plan based upon identified learning needs and evaluates the effectiveness of learning. Family is included in teaching as appropriate.
- Communicate appropriately and clearly to physicians, staff, Director, and administrative team.
- Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs of patients and family. Functions as liaison between administration, patients, physicians, and other healthcare providers.
- Demonstrates ability to assist physicians with procedures.
- Interacts professionally with patient/family and involves patient/family in the formulation of the plan of care.
Regulatory Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
- Baccalaureate degree and Master’s degree preferred.
- Current state Registered Nurse Licensure.
- Three (3) or more years of previous experience in all aspects of medical surgical nursing.
- Current BCLS certification. ACLS within 3 months of hire date.
- Successful completion of arrhythmia course.
